James Batley joined University Advancement as senior director of development for LMU Athletics in January 2021. He brings 10 years of experience in athletic fundraising and engagement. As senior director of development, Batley is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive program to engage alumni, parents, friends, community members as well as business and civic leaders to achieve the philanthropic goals of the university.
He comes to LMU from San Diego State University where he was an assistant athletic director for major gifts. Prior to that position, he was a successful fundraiser at the University of Oregon. Batley also swam competitively as a student-athlete at the University of Kentucky and as a junior international for Great Britain.
He earned a master’s degree in public administration and bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Kentucky. In his free time, Batley enjoys connecting with friends on the golf course, surfing, and spending time with his daughter, Lily.
