Megan joined University Advancement in 2021 and brings more than a decade of experience in higher education philanthropy. As the senior director of development for parent and family philanthropy, Olson is responsible for leading a major gifts team and collaborating with campus partners to align families’ philanthropic interests with the mission and vision of the university.

As an alumna, Olson returns to the bluff from American University in Washington, D.C. where she served as the director of development for parent and family philanthropy. In this capacity, she played an integral role in building a parent philanthropy and engagement program to support the university’s comprehensive campaign. Prior to working with the parent constituency, Olson specialized in garnering financial support for communication and journalism schools including the Campaign for SOC at American University and USC Annenberg’s $150 million fundraising initiative, part of USC’s historic philanthropic campaign.

Olson earned a M.A. in strategic communication from American University and a B.A. in communication studies from LMU. As an alumna and student, Megan has been an active member of the Pi Beta Phi Women’s Fraternity. In her free time, Olson enjoys hitting the trails with her dog, Soprano, while listening to a podcast or spending time with her family.
