Director of Development, LMU Loyola Law School
Jamal Barakat joined University Advancement as the director of development for LMU Loyola Law School (LLS) in July 2022. He brings 6 years of experience in higher education fundraising. In this role, Barakat is responsible for major gift fundraising in support of the J.D. Evening Program, the Loyola Social Justice Law Clinic, and student scholarships.
Barakat comes to LMU from Zaytuna College where he led fundraising efforts to build the first and only accredited Muslim college in the United States. Prior to this, Barakat worked in marketing and public relations in Los Angeles, serving various nonprofit organizations and consumer brands.
Barakat earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Pennsylvania State University and completed his Master of Arts in public diplomacy at the University of Southern California. In his free time, Barakat enjoys exploring the wilderness, playing competitive sports, and writing poetry.
