Isabel Sotomayor, Assistant Director, Philanthropic Volunteer Engagement

As assistant director of philanthropic volunteer engagement, Isabel Sotomayor is responsible for organizing and supporting volunteers who fundraise on LMU’s behalf. She originally joined University Advancement in 2021 as senior donor relations and stewardship coordinator.

Sotomayor comes to LMU from Angel Flight West, where she arranged donated transportation for patients with serious medical conditions or for domestic violence survivors via a network of more than 1,600 volunteer pilots and drivers. She created the organization’s first communications hub documenting volunteer, passenger, and operations staff policies as well as procedures, training documents, and FAQs. Prior to this, Sotomayor spent several years as a volunteer at hospitals in Los Angeles and Paris.

Sotomayor earned a B.A. in psychology from The American University of Paris in France. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, doing hot yoga, eating spicy food, consignment shopping, and travelling.
