Assistant Director of Annual Leadership Giving
Charlien Church joined University Advancement in 2017. She brings 20+ years of experience in volunteer management, membership, and fund development in the nonprofit industry. As assistant director of annual leadership giving, Church is responsible for securing financial support for many of the quality programs throughout LMU. She does this by exploring with donors their individual interests and passions. Her favorite part of her work is getting to know donors on a personal basis and learning about why they choose to give back to LMU.
Church is a native of Washington, D.C., but she has lived in California for more than 30 years. She comes to LMU from the Japanese American National Museum where she managed the membership, annual, and individual giving programs. Prior to this, she worked at UCLA and the Nonprofit Support Center of Santa Barbara County. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from UC Santa Barbara and her master's degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara. In her free time, Church enjoys scrapbooking, gardening, spending time with her family, and keeping up with public policy and national politics.
